Electrolysis works on all hair and skin types.  It is a very accepted form of hair removal that became popular in the late 70s and 80s.  Each procedure takes about 15 minutes to an hour.

How does Electrolysis work?

In a sense the hair follicle is zapped with an short wave radio frequency and essentially destroyed.  There is a probe inserted into each follicle at the skins surface, then the hair is removed.  You will need multiple treatments to get permanent results.

Does Electrolysis Hurt?

Not really.  You can use a topical numbing cream, but then be careful because you may be getting hurt and just not feeling it.  Nowadays it should just feel like a tingling sensation.

  • Choosing an Electrologist
  • Use common sense.
  • Get a recommendation if you can.
  • Make sure you go to a clean salon.
  • Get a consultation first.
  • Ask for a test area to be done to see how you react to it.
  • Some states require an electrologist to be licensed so find out if that applies to you.

Risks?

The biggest risk would be getting an infection from an unsterilized needle or scarring from an improper technique.
